Seapowet Level 2+, 27JULY2024 - Tony M. - 07-23-2024

I know this is early to post, but:

                  * launch at Seapowet, Tiverton R.I., Saturday, 27JULY2024
                  * 10:00 A.M.  launch
                  * This will be a Level 2+ paddle (distance 9-10 miles)
                  * We can do one of two possible paddles:
                             (1) Our traditional Seapowet paddle (head south, around Fogland, past the lighthouse, into Almy Brook for lunch, then back)
                             (2) A new Seapowet paddle (head north, explore Gould Island (AKA Addam's Island), go into Nannaquaket Pond for lunch, then back)
   Both paddles are scenic, the traditional paddle is 9 miles round trip, and the other one is 9.5 miles round trip. Look both trips over on Google Earth, or a map. I will decide based upon a vote before we launch...I will not vote, but will flip a coin in the event of a tie.

I vote for the new paddle, heading north.

North, been south last year, and other years. But I do not see any public landings in Nannaquaket Pond for lunch. Landing on Addams Island has a small exposed beach on the south side.  Measured distances would put the paddle in the 8 mile range.  Sounds fun to me.

This looks interesting to me, something different.   I have never been north, only south.  So I would vote for North.

Also, can you please confirm this is the launch site:    https://www.kayakaccessri.info/mapserver/sapowet_cove.htm

Yes, that is the launch site.

Wind 5 kts, waves a foot or less, sunny weather...looks like a perfect Level 2 paddle day! Remember, 10:00am launch at Seapowet. See you there!
